Midweek Moombah [Mix]
Posted by SP in Music News & Info, Special Projects on June 30, 2011
As promised…
On last week’s show, SP promised a new mix for all the Subliminal Messengers since we’re taking this Friday off (not by choice, by the way – other obligations). Well, today, he delivered.
The new mix is called, simply, “Midweek Moombah,” and features the emerging sound of Moombahton (although this is more ‘moombahcore‘Â – the more aggressive stuff) and producers like Heartbreak, Munchi, Sluggo, Mendez and more.

Subliminal Messages moves to Friday nights!
Posted by SP in Events, Music News & Info on April 7, 2011
Welcome, Messengers!
We’re super excited to announce that Subliminal Messages Radio will be airing on Friday nights starting tomorrow, April 8!
It was kind of a last-minute decision, but when WFCF’s management asked us to move to Fridays, we couldn’t say no. We got our start on Friday nights way back in 1996, so we couldn’t feel more at home… Fridays definitely fit our vibe a lot better, and it gives us a better chance to get your weekend off to a great start – no more getting amped up on Thursday nights just to have to work on Friday morning. Now, once the work week is done, all you have to do is kick on the radio (or click the stream – whichever you prefer) and get ready for the weekend!
Our friend Robbie Willy and his show, The Aftermath, will be moving from the 9:30-Midnight slot to cover 7-9:30, with an unnamed show to follow.
Join us tomorrow night at 7 for the first Friday edition of Subliminal Messages since 2000!

Methodus – FSOB 2011 Promo Mix
Posted by SP in Events, Music News & Info on March 22, 2011
Miami Music Week is officially upon us, and all of the crew at Subliminal Headquarters are amped up… and with promo mixes like the one Jon Methodus of Rubik Records dropped today, we don’t see how everyone else can’t be!
As is his standard, Methodus comes thru with another head-nodding, ass-shaking DJ mix of epic proportions… and rightfully so, as its the official promo mix for Future Sound of Breaks Version 9.0. Shifting from DnB to dubstep mid-way thru, Meth gives us some insight to what we’re in for when we arrive in “the home of the mother f***ing bass.” Tracks from Total Science & S.P.Y., Bare, Armanni Reign and Bassnectar (just to name a few) will have you rocking out all the way to the 305!
Methodus – FSOB 2011 promo mix by Methodus
Download the mix now, and while you’re at it, head to his Soundcloud page to check his recent contribution to the Metalheadz podcast series, and make sure to catch him playing multiple events during MMW including FSOB, Bassdrive Sessions, Rubik vs. Sublife, and the legendary Metalheadz Blue Note Sessions… and of course his weekly Revival Radio show on Bassdrive.com.
WMC / Ultra / Miami Music Week
Posted by SP in Events, Music News & Info on March 7, 2011
For years, the month of March has been home to a “holy week” of electronic music. Artists, DJs, equipment manufacturers and software developers, and thousands of fans of electronic music converge on Miami to talk shop, exchange ideas and music, and party their respective asses off.
This year, things have changed. For reasons many people are still not quite clear on, the organizers of the Winter Music Conference (emphasis added, as March in Miami isn’t exactly “winter”) have decided to split the conference from the parties – pushing the panels, demos, discussions, et al, to this week/weekend, and moving Ultra and the other massive events to the end of the month.
Instead of re-posting the same thing you can find on a ton of other sites, we’ve decided to simply link you over to one of our friends, a talented and dedicated Miami-an, Mr. John Gregory of Pattern Awareness and by1982, also known as somejerk.
Here’s a link to his post, giving you the inside scoop on the events and parties that have made March in Miami the stuff of legend.
Are you planning to attend any of these events? Let us know which ones you’re looking forward to most… maybe we’ll see you at a few!
Dieselboy – Unleashed! [DJ Mix]
Posted by SP in Music News & Info on February 7, 2011
The American champion of DnB, Damian Higgins – known to the world as Dieselboy – just dropped his newest mix offering since 2004’s “The Dungeonmaster’s Guide.” The best part about it – other than DSL’s flawless mixing, fitting 56 tunes into 73 minutes and crossing the DnB & dubstep genres – is that its 100% FREE!
A Shocking New Vision Of Bass Destruction
Dieselboy’s mix CDs have turned on generation after generation of heads to the sounds of drum and bass. From “Drum and Bass Selection USA†in 1996 to “Substance D†in 2008, each has become a classic for the genre. Recognized for their solid content, clever aesthetics, imaginative concepts, and intense energy, his CDs have set the bar against which other dj’s mix projects are measured. Because he only releases mixes infrequently, these moments are considered a special event. This is one of those moments.
Dieselboy – Unleashed! is his most layered and nuanced studio mix to date. Returning to his old school mixtape roots where he isn’t limited to what tracks he could use or license, Dieselboy has used the opportunity to take Unleashed! to another level.
56 tracks were used to craft a deep and extensive 73-minute mix that reveals itself only after repeated listens. Steering away from banging out an “of-the-moment” forgettable dancefloor rinseout, Dieselboy throws down a wide variety of current and classic tracks and edits, wrapping up the mix with 25 minutes of finely diced dubstep that showcases his current taste in the genre and forthcoming tracks from his dubstep label, Subhuman. Finally, the project is given a tongue-in-cheek graphic treatment that references the exploitation sci-fi fantasy movie posters of of the 1970s. It looks and sounds hardcore.
Here it is – the mix he considers his best to date…
Get ready to test your speakers.
You can snag it below… but be warned: you may never listen to DnB or dubstep the same way ever again.
